You can hire all kinds of personal this and that; personal trainers, private nurses, personal chefs, personal concierge, and now you can have your personal bike fit professional, too.

Eric Bowen of BikFit has started a new service that I think is fantastic. You call him up from anywhere in the country (world?), he’ll interview you and talk you through various aspects of bike sizing and bike fitting, come up with an ideal bike geometry for you, help you find either your ideal frame or a custom frame builder in your area, and even locate a qualified professional in your area who can help you fine tune your ride.

Bike sizing is the one thing that almost every rider ignores, overlooks or just plain doesn’t understand until it’s too late. Once you DO start looking into it, the amount of information you have to gather and understand can make the whole thing very laborious and intimidating.

This is an amazing service and goes a long way toward removing the complexity and hassle from finding the bike that is the best size and fit for you.

Eric’s fee is $75.00 and I think it could be the best seventyfive bucks you invest in your bike. Your bike is something you’ll likely be using for several years and this service can make the difference between getting something that is ok, or kind of satisfying, or even regrettable, and getting something that is a real joy to be out on.

I’ve already added this as an update to the original bike sizing article, but I think this is so great that I have to put it here, in it’s on post, at the top of the page.

Here’s Eric’s ad from his BikFit Blog.

You can also get in touch with me. I have a bike buying program for which I charge $75 for all of the following:

— a telephone interview,

— emailed instructions on how to take your anatomical measurements,

— determination of your ideal frame geometry,

— help with locating a bike/frame or custom builder within your budget,

— and if you want, I’ll even try to locate a bike fitter in your area who can help with fine tuning your final position and pedaling biomechanics after you get the bike.

If you live in my coverage area and want me to perform the final bike fit, I’ll credit the cost of this program to my bike fitting services.

So next time you’re in the market to purchase a new bike, please, call Eric. I think this will be $75 you’ll actually be happy that you spent.

Mind if I use some of the information from this post if I provide a link back to your site?

No, as long as you give me credit I’m happy, the link back is great, too.
