Ride the Puddles

Posted by bikezilla on May 13, 2010

Today was my first set of intervals of this season.

And every second of them sucked.

It was last year’s standard intervals, 30 seconds hard, rest 30, 1 minute hard, rest one, 2 minutes hard, rest two, two minutes hard, rest two, one minute hard, rest one, 30 seconds hard, warm down.

It was all on the trainer with the MTB. Took a five mile warm up and the intervals took me just short of another five miles.

It was all misery and pain and suffering. I spent every moment praying to God for mercy, which he was not inclined to give me.

I’m not where I was last year. Not even close. But I didn’t do as poorly as I anticipated.

I hate intervals, but they’re worth every eternal-seeming second of suffering.
